Akhilesh Promises Rs 51,000 Pension for 'Democracy Warriors', Slams 'BJPian Emergency'
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the ruling administration during a Lucknow press conference. Accusing Uttar Pradesh of enduring a "BJPian Emergency" marked by rampant inflation, unemployment, and systemic suppression of marginalized communities (PDA).
Stepping up preparations for the 2027 assembly elections, Yadav made a major electoral pledge. He announcing that if the Samajwadi Party forms the government, the monthly honorarium for 'Loktantra Senanis'—those who resisted the 1975 Emergency—will be substantially hiked to Rs 51,000 alongside free medical care.
Invoking the legacy of the freedom and democracy struggle, Yadav framed the upcoming political battle as a critical fight to protect the Constitution, criticizing the state's handling of infrastructure and law enforcement accountability.
