INDIA Bloc Declares Nationwide Agitation, Schedules October 6 March to Election Commission
The INDIA bloc has announced a joint nationwide protest plan to challenge alleged electoral malpractices and the controversial Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Spearheaded by key figures like Mallikarjun Kharge and Mamata Banerjee, the opposition alliance is demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and a return to traditional ballot paper voting instead of Electronic Voting Machines.
The comprehensive protest schedule features "Save Democracy" marches across district headquarters from October 2 to October 8.
Furthermore, all opposition members of parliament will stage a high-profile march to the Election Commission headquarters in New Delhi on October 6.
The multi-phase campaign will also include five major regional rallies, culminating in a large public demonstration in the national capital on November 1 to protest what the bloc terms a systemic assault on constitutional rights.
