TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee's aide detained by West Bengal CID
Kolkata: The West Bengal Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested Sumit Roy, personal assistant (PA) to Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee, from the leader's Kalighat residence in Kolkata.
The high-profile detention follows the Supreme Court's decision to reject Roy’s anticipatory bail plea and vacate its earlier interim order that had shielded him from arrest.
The case stems from an alleged major land-grab scam in Salboni, located in the West Midnapore district.
