Aleema Khan Detained in Lahore Ahead of PTI Protests
Police in Lahore have detained Aleema Khan, the sister of imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan, under a 30-day detention order issued through the Maintenance of Public Order ordinance.
Authorities justified the action by citing intelligence reports warning that her participation in public gatherings could disrupt public safety.
This arrest is part of a broader government crackdown intended to prevent the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party's nationwide protest march scheduled for September 27.
The upcoming demonstration has been organized to demand the immediate release of Imran Khan, who has been imprisoned for more than three years, and to protest judicial system procedures.
Alongside Aleema Khan's detention, law enforcement has arrested multiple party activists in Islamabad while intensifying security blockades to deter demonstrators.
PTI leadership strongly condemned the move, viewing it as an effort to suppress peaceful political mobilization.
