YouTuber Dhruv Rathee Detained in Gurugram Ahead of CJP's Jantar Mantar Protest
New Delhi: Popular YouTuber and content creator Dhruv Rathee was placed under preventative detention by a joint team of Delhi and Gurugram Police at his residence in Gurugram.
The action came ahead of a planned demonstration at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Law enforcement agencies had surrounded Rathee’s apartment complex following his social media videos encouraging public participation.
The sweeping security measures—which included hundreds of preventative detentions of activists and political figures, heavy barricading, road closures, and localized transport and internet restrictions—drew sharp condemnation from the CJP and various opposition handles, who labeled the actions an attempt to suppress peaceful dissent.
