Delhi Lockdown-Like Security: What Shuts and Survives During CJP’s Jantar Mantar March
Heavy security gridlock grips the national capital today as Delhi Police deploy tens of thousands of security personnel, enforce Section 163, and deny permission for the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) Jantar Mantar protest.
What’s Closed:
Transit: Entry and exit gates at 57 Delhi Metro stations are shut or heavily restricted, alongside regional Namo Bharat terminals.
Indian Railways has also canceled numerous mail and express trains heading into New Delhi. Communications & Retail: Mobile internet services are suspended within a 4-kilometer radius of Central Delhi, and all standalone retail liquor vends across the city are ordered shut.
Movement: Multi-layered barricading locks down central districts and border points.
What’s Open:
Commerce & Dining: There is no general commercial shutdown. Regular neighborhood markets, standalone shops, and corporate offices outside immediate security zones remain operational.
Hospitality: Licensed restaurants, bars, and clubs are permitted to stay open and serve patrons normally.
Road Transport: Taxis and cabs are running, though drivers are steering clear of barricaded protest corridors.
