CJI Rejects Opposition Meeting Request Over ‘Vote Chori’ Allegations, Cites Sub Judice Status

Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant has turned down a formal meeting request from Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Rajya Sabha LoP Mallikarjun Kharge.

The opposition leaders sought the appointment to submit a memorandum regarding alleged "vote chori," the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, and a demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The CJI’s office communicated that the request was declined because similar electoral matters and related grievances are already sub judice on the judicial side of the Supreme Court.

The office emphasized that the judiciary cannot intervene in such administrative matters outside proper legal channels.

The refusal precedes a planned protest march by INDIA bloc leaders toward the apex court.

The opposition coalition has pressed forward with demonstrations demanding electoral reforms and accountability, even as legal proceedings on related petitions continue within the Supreme Court.
