President Droupadi Murmu Appoints New Governors Across Six States
President Droupadi Murmu issued gubernatorial appointments and transfers across six states, according to an official communique from Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The administrative reshuffle involves two major transfers of serving governors and four fresh appointments.
Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who held additional charge of Tamil Nadu alongside Keralam, has been appointed as the full-time Governor of Tamil Nadu.
Taking over in Keralam, Om Prakash Mathur moves from his previous post as Governor of Sikkim to serve as Keralam’s new constitutional head.
Filling the vacancy in Sikkim, former BJP national general secretary and ex-Rajya Sabha MP Dushyant Gautam has been named Governor.
The other three appointments bring new faces to state leadership. Former MP Dr. Sudha Yadav takes charge as Governor of Karnataka, succeeding Thaawarchand Gehlot.
Former Lok Sabha MP Dr. Dhal Singh Bisen assumes office as Governor of Uttarakhand, taking over from retired Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh.
Lastly, veteran leader and former MP Braj Mohan Ram has been appointed as Governor of Odisha.
