INDIA Bloc Marches to Supreme Court, Files Petition Against CEC Over Electoral Revisions
Thousands of political workers, civil rights activists, and INDIA bloc leaders, led by Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, marched through central Delhi to the Supreme Court.
The high-profile demonstration culminated in the formal filing of a writ petition in the apex court challenging Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and demanding his resignation.
The protest and subsequent legal action stem from fierce opposition allegations regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and widespread electoral irregularities, which opposition figures have termed "vote chori" (vote theft).
Marchers raised slogans against administrative bias and heavy security restrictions across the national capital.
The petition urges the Supreme Court to establish an independent committee to investigate the ECI's decision-making and review online voter registration mechanisms.
This judicial step follows the Chief Justice of India's directive instructing opposition leaders to pursue legal channels rather than a direct meeting.
The ruling coalition has strongly criticized the agitation, accusing the opposition of undermining constitutional bodies, setting the stage for a intense legal and political showdown.
