SAD Chief Sukhbir Singh Badal Meets Punjab Governor Over Jhota Killing, Demands CM Bhagwant Mann’s Dismissal
Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal led a high-level party delegation to meet Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, submitting a formal memorandum demanding the immediate dismissal of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The move comes in the sharp aftermath of the killing of prominent anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota, an incident that has sparked intense public outrage and political confrontation across the state.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Badal heavily criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, holding CM Mann directly responsible for what he termed a complete breakdown of law and order in Punjab. He alleged that the drug mafia continues to operate with impunity, targeting activists who dare to stand up against narcotics networks.
The SAD delegation urged the Governor to intervene to safeguard state security, demanding an independent, high-level investigation into a suspected nexus between politicians, police officials, and drug cartels. Furthermore, the Akali Dal extended firm support to the victim’s family, advocating for swift justice, rigorous punishment for the perpetrators, a government job for a family member, and financial compensation for the slain activist’s dependents.
