FIR Filed After 10,470 Irregular Voter Entries Flagged in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Seat

Uttar Pradesh election authorities have registered an FIR against three officials, including two administrative officers, after 10,470 irregular voter entries were flagged in the Pilibhit Sadar Assembly constituency.

An internal probe revealed that a computer operator processed 13,779 Form-8 applications between May and August 2026, approving 10,470 modifications without mandatory supporting documents or records.

Following the expose, the computer operator's services were terminated, and the implicated officers faced strict administrative action.

The massive discrepancy triggered intense political backlash, with opposition parties like the Congress and Samajwadi Party alleging targeted manipulation of voter rolls to disenfranchise specific communities. In response to the uproar, the Election Commission has initiated corrective measures to purify the voter lists.

Legal proceedings under Section 32 of the Representation of the People Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita are currently underway against the accused officials.
