Poll ahead, UP Government Introduces Lifelong Free Bus Rides for Women Over 60
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has rolled out the Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrushakti Yojana, granting lifelong free bus travel to all women aged 60 and above throughout Uttar Pradesh.
Named after the revered 18th-century ruler Ahilyabai Holkar, this major welfare initiative allows senior female residents to travel without charge on all UPSRTC public buses.
Eligible citizens can easily claim this benefit by displaying a valid government photo ID like an Aadhaar or Voter ID card, while specialized smart cards are also being deployed to ensure effortless transit.
Designed to benefit over one crore elderly women in the state, the scheme significantly enhances social mobility, independence, and financial relief. It underscores the administration's ongoing dedication to empowering women and improving public transport accessibility across Uttar Pradesh.
