Amit Shah Targets Full Criminal Law Rollout and 25% Conviction Boost

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has set a one-year deadline for the 100% implementation of India's three landmark criminal laws: the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.

The ambitious modernization drive aims to completely overhaul the country’s penal framework, targeting a 25% increase in conviction rates and ensuring that criminal cases are resolved entirely—from initial registration up to the Supreme Court—within a strict three-year timeframe.

Speaking at the National Security Strategies Conference, Shah emphasized leveraging advanced digital platforms like the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS), CCTNS, and NAFIS.

By combining tech-driven investigations, mandatory forensic integration, and robust databases, the government intends to replace colonial-era procedures with a victim-centric, transparent, and swift justice delivery mechanism nationwide.
