Goa Digital Arrest Scam Uncovers ₹400 Crore Pan-India Cyber Fraud

An Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation into a Goa "digital arrest" scam—where a woman lost ₹2.6 crore—has exposed a massive pan-India syndicate linked to 330 victims and 163 FIRs across 20 states, with total losses exceeding ₹400 crore.

The sophisticated network utilized shell companies and individuals of modest means as directors to launder funds.

Stolen money was fragmented across hundreds of beneficiary accounts within hours, converting digital credits into cash through forex entities and money changers.

The interconnected web of entities handled staggering banking transactions surpassing ₹27,850 crore.

Following raids in Mumbai and Goa, the ED seized ₹3.25 crore in cash and arrested two key suspects, Fahim Moin Hussain Sayed and Naim Mueen Sayyed, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to dismantle the interstate syndicate.
