UP Government Extends Free Bus Travel for Women Ahead of Raksha Bandhan
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced free bus travel for women and an accompanying companion on all state-run buses operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) and urban development services during Raksha Bandhan.
The initiative spans a three-day window to efficiently handle the heavy festive rush and ensure smooth transit for millions traveling to visit families. To guarantee passenger security amidst the holiday crowds, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed local authorities, police departments, and Anti-Romeo Squads to maintain active deployment at major bus stations and transit hubs.
Additionally, strict protocols were mandated for public transit operators, drivers, and auto services to prevent vehicle overloading and unauthorized overcharging. This comprehensive effort blends financial relief with enhanced safety measures, ensuring a seamless and secure travel experience throughout the festive celebrations across the state.
