Rahul Gandhi Blasts Pralhad Joshi Over Education Ministry Appointment
Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the BJP government following Pralhad Joshi’s appointment as Union Education Minister, labeling him a "defender of rapists."
The controversy stems from Joshi’s 2022 defense of the premature release of convicts in the Bilkis Bano gangrape case, a decision later quashed by the Supreme Court. Gandhi condemned the choice as representing the "most filthy type of man."
Simultaneously, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra raised the issue inside the Lok Sabha during a debate on anti-paper leak amendments. This provoked furious counter-attacks from treasury benches, with ministers demanding an apology and accusing the opposition of character assassination.
Joshi assumed the education portfolio following Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, which was prompted by intense nationwide student protests over examination irregularities like the NEET paper leak, further escalating political friction in Parliament.
