Washington: The Persian Gulf is on the brink of wider war after a second night of massive military engagements shattered a fragile U.S.-Iran ceasefire.
U.S. Central Command struck roughly 90 military targets inside Iran—including air defenses, radar stations, and drone sites near Bandar Abbas and Bushehr. President Donald Trump declared the month-old truce formally "over," citing recent Iranian fast-boat attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
In immediate retaliation, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard fired a barrage of missiles and drones across the Gulf, dragging neighboring Arab nations into the crossfire. Sirens blared in Bahrain, home to the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet, while Kuwaiti forces actively intercepted incoming threats. Qatar was also targeted.
As Tehran accused Washington of violating maritime agreements, the sudden escalation sent global oil prices surging by nearly 8%, with Brent crude spiking back over $80 a barrel.
