Florida Rebrands PBI to President Donald J. Trump International Airport
New Delhi: Palm Beach International Airport officially transitioned to President Donald J. Trump International Airport on July 9, 2026. The milestone marks the first time in United States history that a commercial airport has been renamed after a sitting president.
The rebranding follows state legislation signed earlier this year by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officially updated its records, switching the facility's internal locator and pilot navigation codes to DJT.
However, travelers booking flights and checking luggage will continue to use the classic PBI three-letter code until August 18, 2026, giving airline reservation networks adequate time to synchronize systems.
The extensive aesthetic and structural overhaul is projected to cost up to $5.5 million. Palm Beach County retains full ownership and operational control of the facility, which sits just four miles from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
