35-Minute Commute: Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway Opens Monday
Lucknow: The long-awaited Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway (NE-6) officially opens tomorrow, July 13, 2026, slashing travel time between UP’s capital and industrial hub from two hours to just 35 to 45 minutes. Built at a cost of ₹4,700 crore, the 63-km, 6-lane corridor connects Lucknow’s Shaheed Path to Kanpur’s Azad Marg Chauraha.
Notably, this is India’s first highway built using automated 3D machine-guided construction, ensuring an incredibly smooth ride. For safety, the expressway features a strict 120 km/h speed limit monitored by 63 smart PTZ cameras and an Advanced Traffic Management System to issue automated speeding challans.
Commuters should note the toll tax is set at ₹175 for private cars and ₹935 for buses per one-way trip. UPSRTC will also launch dedicated express bus services next week, permanently eliminating the notorious Jajmau and Unnao traffic bottlenecks.
