Vietnam Boat Accident: 16 Indian Survivors Return Home as One Remains Hospitalized
New Delhi: Sixteen Indian tourists who survived a devastating speedboat capsize off the coast of Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam, are returning home to India. The tragic incident, which claimed the lives of 15 other Indian travelers on a company-sponsored reward trip, occurred when rough seas and heavy waves overturned their vessel just 400 meters from the shore.
While the 16 survivors have been cleared for repatriation after undergoing medical evaluations and receiving support from the Indian Embassy, one passenger remains hospitalized in Vietnam. Local medical teams are closely monitoring this individual's recovery before they can be safely cleared for travel.
Meanwhile, the Indian government, in coordination with Vietnamese authorities, has set up emergency helplines to assist grieving families and facilitate the repatriation of the deceased. An official investigation into the accident is currently underway.
