Insider Betrayal: 3 Tiger Skins Seized as Police Links to Poaching Shock Chhattisgarh

Raipur: The seizure of three tiger skins in a single week has triggered massive alarm in Chhattisgarh after a joint operation exposed a deeply unsettling law enforcement connection. Two Maharashtra police personnel were caught red-handed transporting two tiger pelts near the state border, leading to five more arrests and the recovery of a third skin, along with a massive cache of pangolin scales.

The skins are suspected to belong to tigers from the Indravati Tiger Reserve, a fragile habitat home to only about six tigers. Losing three effectively halves the local population. Investigators are now probing whether the poachers compromised official camera traps to target the big cats.

This devastating blow severs a critical wildlife corridor connecting Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. Three forest officials have been suspended for negligence as the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau expands its probe into this dangerous insider network.
