NTA Seeks AICTE Assistance to Transition NEET-UG to Computer-Based Format
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is laying the groundwork to shift the NEET-UG examination from a traditional pen-and-paper format to a computer-based test (CBT).
To secure reliable testing venues, the NTA has partnered with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to map infrastructure across government-run technical institutions, engineering colleges, and polytechnics.
AICTE has mandated participating institutions to submit detailed infrastructure reports by September 15.
The assessment evaluates key parameters, including functional computer systems, reliable local networking, high-speed internet, power backups, and extensive CCTV surveillance to prevent malpractice.
This operational overhaul comes in the wake of previous security breaches and paper leaks that plagued traditional paper-based administrations.
By leveraging verified public institutions and technical universities, the NTA aims to enhance exam security, standardize testing conditions nationwide, and restore candidate trust in the high-stakes medical entrance process.
