FBI Adds India-Born Manjit Singh Bedi to Most Wanted List for $600K SNAP Fraud
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has added India-born, naturalized U.S. citizen Manjit Singh Bedi to its Most Wanted list following an alleged $600,000 welfare fraud scheme.
Operating the Asian Grocery Store in Tacoma, Washington, Bedi allegedly swiped customers' Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Electronic Benefit Transfer cards, gave them cash, and kept half of the proceeds.
Indicted on wire and SNAP fraud charges, Bedi violated release conditions by fleeing across the Canadian border and escaping to India. A federal arrest warrant was issued by the U.S.
District Court for the Western District of Washington. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $150,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction, urging anyone with details to contact local authorities or submit a tip online.
