ISRO Successfully Launches EOS-05: India’s First Geosynchronous Imaging Satellite
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched its advanced Earth observation satellite, EOS-05, aboard the GSLV-F17 rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
Weighing 2,367 kg, EOS-05 is India’s heaviest payload lifted by a GSLV vehicle and marks a major technological leap.
Unlike conventional low-earth orbit satellites that offer only periodic snapshots, EOS-05 is India's first dedicated imaging satellite to operate from a high geosynchronous orbit (~36,000 km).
This high-altitude vantage point provides a continuous, real-time watch over the Indian subcontinent.
ISRO confirmed that the rocket precisely injected the spacecraft into its initial Sub-GTO orbit, with upcoming onboard maneuvers set to position it into its final operational station.
