Death for Muskan and Sahil in Blue Drum Case
MEERUT — In a chilling verdict on the high-profile "Blue Drum" murder case, a local court has sentenced Muskan Rastogi and her lover, Sahil Shukla, to capital punishment.
The duo was convicted for the premeditated murder of Muskan’s husband, Saurabh Rajput, a former merchant navy officer, whose dismembered body was sealed in a large blue plastic drum with cement in 2025.
Concluding a swift 13-month trial involving 126 hearings and 22 witness testimonies, the court categorized the crime under the "rarest of rare" category, emphasizing the extreme brutality and calculated betrayal involved.
Drawing profound judicial perspectives, the judge invoked the epic Mahabharata during the sentencing.
The court remarked that true dharma encompasses the moral duty to punish those who commit heinous wrongs, asserting that society and the justice system must firmly confront such cruelty.
Legal experts noted that this scriptural reference underscored the gravity of the moral and societal breach committed by the convicts.
The verdict has drawn widespread national attention, serving as a stern reminder of the judiciary's commitment to delivering absolute justice in cases marked by extreme depravity.
