Air India Frankfurt-Delhi Flight Diverts to Jaipur After Security Scare
New Delhi: An Air India flight operating from Frankfurt to New Delhi experienced a major security scare when it was diverted to Jaipur International Airport following a bomb threat.
The aircraft, carrying approximately 306 people on board, faced a security alert while traversing the Mumbai Flight Information Region. Reports indicate that the pilot activated Squawk Code 7500—the universal transponder code signifying unlawful interference or a hijack situation—which immediately triggered emergency response protocols.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner landed safely at Jaipur International Airport under heightened security, where it was immediately moved to an isolated isolation bay. Local law enforcement, the Anti-Terrorism Squad, and airport security teams cordoned off the aircraft and safely deboarded all passengers in a phased manner.
Comprehensive anti-sabotage checks and baggage screenings were conducted by specialized security agencies. Aviation authorities later confirmed that thorough inspections revealed nothing suspicious, clearing the aircraft to resume operations. Security agencies have launched a formal investigation to trace the origin and authenticity of the threat.
