Calcutta HC Bars Modi-Adani documentary Till Jan 31
The Calcutta High Court issued an interim injunction restraining the publication, sharing, and uploading of a documentary titled “How Modi and Adani Stole India: The Friendship Files” until January 31.
Justice Aryak Dutt granted the order following a plea by Adani Enterprises, which argued that the video contained false, defamatory allegations damaging corporate reputation.
In response, social media intermediaries including YouTube, X, and Instagram were directed to disable links and take down clips related to the content.
The court also ordered platforms to preserve advertising records and refrain from monetizing any views generated by the video.
Highlighting that corporate reputation is protected under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution, the court clarified that the order applies strictly to the specific defamatory video and does not restrict fair reporting or constructive policy critique.
