India Urges Overhaul of Global Governance, Highlights UAE Partnership at Abu Dhabi Forum
Abu Dhabi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar called for an urgent reform of legacy multilateral institutions during his address at the 2nd Raisina Middle East Forum in Abu Dhabi, asserting that global governance structures are failing to keep pace with contemporary geopolitical shifts.
Jaishankar emphasized that rigid international frameworks must adapt to modern realities and noted that flexible minilateral groupings can serve as practical building blocks to accelerate broader global reform. Highlighting the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership as a benchmark for successful bilateral collaboration, he pointed to the rapid expansion of ties in trade, energy, and technology over the past decade.
During his visit, Jaishankar also met with UAE leadership, including Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and held sideline discussions with foreign counterparts to reinforce regional connectivity, economic cooperation, and international partnership frameworks.
