Censorship Controversy: Raihan Vadra’s Protest Art Removed Ahead of Delhi Exhibition

Art and politics collided in New Delhi as management at Bikaner House abruptly compelled photographer Raihan Vadra—son of Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Robert Vadra—to remove nearly half the works from his debut solo exhibition, "No Idea Is Final", just hours before its opening.

Management reportedly flagged 74 photographs documenting recent youth street protests, labeling them objectionable due to the prevailing political climate.

A fierce standoff erupted over two pieces featuring the Indian national flag, which the artist firmly refused to take down.

The incident sparked severe backlash from opposition leaders. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the censorship as a systemic attempt to silence youth expression.

Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram condemned the action as churlish, while Pawan Khera questioned a regime where even the Tricolour faces the censor's scissors.

Despite the sweeping removal of his protest documentation, Vadra proceeded with the exhibition using the remaining works.
