Blaze Hits 13-Storey Kurla High-Rise; Nine Injured, Including Three Children
A major fire broke out early Tuesday morning in a 13-storey residential building located in Kurla West, Mumbai, leaving nine people injured, including three children and a senior citizen.
The blaze erupted at approximately 6:53 AM at the Kohinoor HDIL complex.
According to disaster management officials, the fire was primarily confined to the electrical wiring, installations, and meters running through the building's utility ducts from the ground floor up to the 12th floor.
Thick, choking smoke rapidly filled the stairwells and upper levels, causing panic among residents.
Emergency responders, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, and municipal staff, swiftly arrived at the scene, successfully dousing the flames by 7:21 AM. Eight victims suffered from severe smoke inhalation, while one person sustained a leg injury during the evacuation. All injured residents were rushed to Rajawadi Hospital, where doctors confirmed they are currently in stable condition.
