US Withdraws B-1 Bombers from RAF Fairford Amid Security Threat
The United States has abruptly withdrawn all B-1 Lancer bombers from RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire following heightened security concerns and a suspected terrorist plot.
The threat escalation began after a local farmer reported suspicious activity involving vans near the base.
Counter-terrorism police subsequently recovered petrol containers and temporarily evacuated nearby residents.
British authorities arrested six individuals in connection with the probe, including five British citizens later released on bail and a dual British-Iranian national.
Officials pointed toward potential foreign backing, though Tehran has strongly denied the accusations.
RAF Fairford serves as a vital strategic hub for US operations. Following the security assessment, the Pentagon confirmed that all deployed bombers have safely returned to their home bases in the United States.
