Surendra Koli, Accused in 2006 Nithari Serial Killings, Dies by Suicide in Haridwar
Surendra Koli, the primary accused in the notorious 2006 Nithari serial killings, has died by suicide in Uttarakhand's Haridwar district.
His body was discovered hanging from a makeshift structure outside a tea stall near the Lalmata Temple in the Bhupatwala area of North Haridwar.
Following his release from prison, Koli had been residing in the area and operating a local tea stall.
Previously employed as a domestic help for businessman Moninder Singh Pandher in Noida, Koli faced numerous capital punishment sentences from lower courts over the years.
However, the legal landscape shifted when the Allahabad High Court and the Supreme Court ultimately acquitted both Koli and Pandher across the remaining cases, citing severe investigative flaws and a lack of conclusive forensic evidence.
Local law enforcement authorities secured the body and have launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
