Manu Bhaker and Tajinderpal Singh Toor to Lead India at Asian Games Opener
Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker and defending champion shot putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor have been officially named as India’s flag-bearers for the grand opening ceremony of the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Bhaker etched her name in history books at the Paris Olympics by becoming the first athlete from independent India to secure two medals in a single edition of the Games.
Joining her is Toor, a dominant continental powerhouse who aims for a historic third consecutive men's shot put gold medal.
The duo will lead a strong contingent of over 500 Indian athletes marching into the Paloma Mizuho Stadium.
Both athletes represent the pinnacle of Indian sportsmanship and enter the multi-discipline event as prime contenders for podium finishes, carrying the nation's hopes high on the international stage.
