Prashant Kishor Secures Historic Win in Bankipur Bypoll, Shakes Up Bihar Politics
Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor has clinched a decisive victory in the Bankipur Assembly by-election, defeating BJP's Neeraj Kumar Sinha by 18,953 votes.
This landmark win marks Kishor’s first electoral success and delivers a severe blow to the ruling party by dismantling the BJP's uninterrupted 30-year hold on the constituency.
The bypoll was triggered after BJP national president Nitin Nabin vacated the seat upon moving to the Rajya Sabha.
Pitting his fledgling political outfit against the saffron party's heavy machinery, Kishor framed the contest around local governance, youth employment, and stopping mass migration from Bihar.
Declaring that a "30-year-old stronghold fell in just 30 days," Kishor stated that the stunning outcome sends a resounding message from voters demanding alternative leadership and better development in the state.
