A Delhi court has acquitted former Wrestling Federation of India chief and ex-BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in the high-profile sexual harassment case filed by women wrestlers.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashwini Panwar pronounced the verdict during in-camera proceedings at the Rouse Avenue Courts, also clearing co-accused and former WFI assistant secretary Vinod Tomar.

The case originated from a 2023 FIR following intense protests by elite wrestlers at Jantar Mantar, who alleged years of sexual misconduct. Formal charges were framed in May 2024 under IPC sections for outraging modesty, sexual harassment, stalking, and criminal intimidation.

While a separate POCSO case involving a minor was earlier closed following a cancellation report, Singh maintained his innocence after the verdict, while the complainants' legal teams weigh potential appeals in higher courts.
