NEET PG 2026: Single Shift and 180 Questions Introduced
The Ministry of Health and NBEMS have announced major reforms for NEET PG 2026, shifting to a single-shift exam format on August 30, 2026, to eliminate normalization concerns.
Over 2.73 lakh registered candidates will face a streamlined pattern featuring a reduced total of 180 multiple-choice questions—down from 200—carrying 720 maximum marks instead of 800.
The exam duration remains steady at 3 hours and 30 minutes, divided into five time-locked sections of 36 questions each. This gives aspirants enhanced time per question to navigate clinical scenarios.
To bolster security and ensure transparency, authorities have mandated Aadhaar-based biometric authentication, supplemented by iris verification as a backup.
Furthermore, candidates benefit from a revised test-city preference policy allowing choices across three preferred locations, ensuring smoother travel planning for this massive nationwide medical entrance examination.
