The political fallout over the deferred Cauvery bilateral talks has intensified.
Following criticism from DMK chief M.K. Stalin accusing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay of political isolation, a close ministerial aide to Vijay fired back at Karnataka Chief Minister D.K.
The Tamil Nadu minister claimed that Shivakumar operates independently of his own national party leadership and functions essentially under the directives of Stalin.
The war of words follows the postponement of Vijay's planned visit to Bengaluru after Karnataka cited an unconducive atmosphere amid localized protests.
While the ruling camp defended the outreach as a push for administrative dialogue, the DMK has continued to press for a unified all-party consensus, asserting that legal adjudication remains the only viable path to secure the state's rightful share of water.
