Ganesh Chaturthi 2026 Begins: Nation Welcomes Bappa With Grand Celebrations And Strict Security
Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations commenced across India today, marking the start of the ten-day Ganeshotsav festival.
Devotees have eagerly welcomed clay idols of Lord Ganesha into homes and elaborate community pandals, accompanied by vibrant chants of Ganpati Bappa Morya.
The auspicious Sthapana muhurat falls between 11:02 AM and 1:31 PM in most regions, varying slightly by location.
Financial markets and banks remain closed in major states including Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat to observe the festival.
In Mumbai, high-profile community pandals like the GSB Seva Mandal have captured national attention, featuring an idol adorned with over 66 kg of gold and backed by a staggering ₹703 crore insurance cover.
Security and crowd management have been heavily reinforced across major temple towns and metropolitan hubs to ensure peaceful festivities leading up to the final Visarjan on Anant Chaturdashi, September 25.
