Xi Jinping Skips PM Modi’s BRICS Gala Dinner Following Bilateral Talks
Chinese President Xi Jinping was a notable absentee at the high-profile gala dinner hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
The banquet followed a packed day of BRICS Summit sessions and a closely watched 50-minute bilateral meeting between Modi and Xi.
While no official explanation was issued by Beijing or New Delhi, sources indicated that Xi returned to his hotel to rest following his arrival in India earlier that afternoon.
His absence drew immediate attention, contrasting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and other global leaders who partook in the evening's festivities.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi also missed the dinner after departing for the UAE.
The event proceeded with numerous Indian union ministers, state chief ministers, and international delegates attending the celebration of traditional Indian cuisine.
