Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma Faces Backlash After Allegedly Slapping Man During Road Inspection
A massive political storm erupted in Delhi after a video surfaced showing PWD Minister Parvesh Verma allegedly slapping a young man who was filming him.
The incident occurred during an official inspection of a newly laid road in west Delhi's Tilak Nagar constituency.
Tensions flared when local Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Jarnail Singh and residents questioned the road's quality, peeling back parts of the surface by hand.
As a local social media handler recorded the heated argument, Verma was caught on camera swatting down the phone and striking the man.
The AAP heavily condemned the assault, with party convenor Arvind Kejriwal demanding the minister's immediate arrest.
Meanwhile, Verma defended his actions, claiming the video lacked context and alleging that AAP workers hurled verbal abuses at his family, prompting him to react. A police complaint and FIR have been lodged.
