AC Milan Legend Franco Baresi Dies at 66
AC Milan is mourning the loss of club legend and Italian football icon Franco Baresi, who has passed away at age 66 following an illness.
Regarded as one of history's greatest sweepers, Baresi spent his entire 20-year career with the Rossoneri, making 719 appearances. He captained the side for 15 seasons, securing six Serie A titles and three European Cups as the bedrock of a legendary defensive line. Milan permanently retired his iconic number six shirt in his honor.
On the international stage, Baresi earned 81 caps for Italy, lifting the FIFA World Cup trophy in 1982. He also captained the Azzurri to the 1994 World Cup final, delivering a heroic defensive performance just weeks after undergoing knee surgery.
The football world unites in grief for a true titan of the game. AC Milan paid tribute, stating his integrity and unmatched legacy will remain forever etched into the club's DNA.
