Supreme Court Quashes All FIRs Against CJP Anti-NEET Protesters, Calls Off September 5 March

The Supreme Court invoked its extraordinary powers under Article 142 of the Constitution to quash all First Information Reports (FIRs) and criminal cases registered nationwide against student agitators who participated in the July 20–25 Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led anti-NEET protests.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant ordered the blanket closure of legal proceedings to protect the future prospects of young participants. However, the ruling excludes individuals flagged with serious preexisting criminal records or specific major offenses.

The landmark judicial intervention follows assurances from the Centre and state governments regarding student grievances and compensation frameworks.

Welcoming the decision as historic, CJP co-convenors officially called off their proposed nationwide protest march slated for September 5.
