SRK, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff Receive Maharashtra FDA Notices Over Vimal Elaichi Ads
Mumbai: The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued official show-cause notices to Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff over their promotional endorsements for Vimal Elaichi.
The regulatory action stems from allegations that the Vimal Elaichi commercials act as surrogate advertising for banned Vimal Pan Masala products.
Under the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act, 2006, pan masala and gutkha products containing nicotine or tobacco are strictly prohibited across Maharashtra.
The notices cite Section 24 of the FSS Act, targeting misleading food advertisements, and Section 53, which carries penalties of up to ten lakh rupees for endorsing or publishing such content.
The actors have been formally asked to clarify their roles in the campaign. This move highlights the state FDA's ongoing crackdown on the indirect marketing of hazardous tobacco-related goods.
