Virginia State University Shooting Leaves Five Injured Before Fall Classes
A late-night shooting at Virginia State University early Saturday morning left five individuals injured, with one person in critical condition. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. near the campus residence halls on Boisseau Street, just days before the fall semester was set to begin.
Emergency responders transported all five victims to local hospitals. While four sustained non-life-threatening injuries, one remains in critical condition. University officials confirmed that multiple suspects are believed to be involved.
A temporary campus-wide lockdown was enacted and later lifted as the situation stabilized.
The Chesterfield County Police Department is leading the active investigation alongside campus police and federal law enforcement agencies.
Authorities have urged anyone with relevant information to contact the Chesterfield County Police or Crime Solvers immediately to aid the ongoing search for those responsible.
