Rail Coach Milestones Contrast With Past Sanitation Record
VADODARA:The political discourse comparing rail coach manufacturing output and sanitation infrastructure juxtaposes two major focus areas of public policy over the last two decades. Official ministry data and national sanitation reports provide the factual metrics behind these comparative claims:
Rail Coach Manufacturing: Production has accelerated significantly through India's premier manufacturing units, including the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, Modern Coach Factory (MCF) in Raebareli, and Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala. Annual output scaled up to meet demands for modern LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches, VistaDome coaches, and self-propelled trainsets like Vande Bharat, surpassing historical production figures from the preceding decade.
Sanitation and Rural Hygiene: Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) launched in 2014, the government focused on eliminating open defecation. Official reports note the construction of over 100 million individual household toilets and hundreds of thousands of community and public toilets across rural and urban India within the first decade of the initiative, altering public health metrics significantly compared to earlier slower rates of sanitation coverage.
