Fake PMO Official and Armed Guard Detained at Mumbai Event Venue

Mumbai Police detained a 24-year-old man, Rohan Parekh, and his armed bodyguard after they attempted to infiltrate a high-security zone in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) ahead of a visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Parekh used a forged identity card falsely identifying himself as a Prime Minister's Office (PMO) official, while his companion carried a firearm.

Alert security personnel and local police officers intercepted the duo after noticing suspicious credentials and behavior at the perimeter checkpoint.

A formal case has been registered at the BKC police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for impersonation, forgery, and unlawful entry.

A local court subsequently remanded both suspects to police custody.

The Mumbai Crime Branch and Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) have taken over the investigation to uncover the suspects' deeper motives, verify the origins of the forged credentials, and determine whether any broader security network or conspiracy was involved in the attempted breach.
