Jharkhand CID Arrests 11th Suspect in JSSC-CGL Exam Irregularities Probe

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Rajan Kumar, a resident of Patna, Bihar, bringing the total number of arrests in the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) recruitment examination irregularities case to 11.

According to investigators, Kumar allegedly orchestrated a paper-leak and coaching scheme, transporting multiple aspirants to a hotel in Niyamatpur, West Bengal. Candidates were sheltered at the venue and forced to memorize question papers and corresponding answers prior to the examination. Several candidates who participated in this process managed to clear the competitive test.

The ongoing investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has targeted various layers of the racket. The total of 11 arrests now includes four candidates who successfully passed the examination, alongside key facilitators such as Abhay Tiwari, a block supply officer implicated in aiding the leak network.

The JSSC-CGL recruitment process has faced prolonged controversy, including widespread protests from job aspirants over alleged anomalies. Although the state government initially canceled the JSSC-CGL-2023 examination in response to the public outcry, the Jharkhand High Court subsequently stayed the cancellation order following petitions filed by successful candidates. The CID continues its manhunt to uncover other key conspirators tied to the cross-state syndicate.
