Harmanpreet Kaur Steps Down as India Captain Across All Formats
Harmanpreet Kaur has announced her decision to step down as the captain of the Indian women's cricket team across all formats.
Concluding a defining leadership tenure, she stated that she has fulfilled her responsibilities and believes the squad is currently in a strong, healthy place for the future.
Under her guidance, Indian women's cricket achieved unprecedented milestones, including historic bilateral series victories abroad and a memorable gold medal triumph at the Asian Games.
Her tenure profoundly elevated the team's global competitiveness.
While relinquishing the captaincy, Kaur confirmed that her playing career is far from over, expressing eagerness to return to the pitch purely for the love of the game.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to name her successor soon, with vice-captain Smriti Mandhana widely anticipated to take over the leadership role.
