Badal Backs Women’s Quota and Delimitation After Modi Meeting
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal announced the party's full support for the immediate implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill and a fair delimitation exercise.
Speaking in Chandigarh following a high-level party meeting, Badal emphasized that SAD draws inspiration from Sikh Gurus who championed women's rights and equality, pointing to the SGPC's existing model of female representation.
The party also advocated for a uniform fifty percent increase in legislative seats across states through equitable delimitation.
This major policy statement followed just a day after Badal met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Parliament House in New Delhi.
The timing has intensified political speculation regarding a potential revival of the alliance between SAD and the BJP, six years after they severed ties over the repealed farm laws.
