Meta CEO Zuckerberg Buys Historic Irish Castle

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have expanded their global real estate portfolio by purchasing Strancally Castle in County Waterford, Ireland.

The off-market deal, estimated between €20 million and €30 million, secures the historic 19th-century Gothic Revival estate set on a stunning 440-acre property overlooking the River Blackwater.

Designed by renowned architects James and George Richard Pain, the 16,000-square-foot main residence features elaborate architecture and was meticulously restored over the last 25 years by its previous owners.

Located roughly 125 miles from Dublin—where Meta houses its European headquarters—the sprawling castle will not serve as a primary residence.

Instead, Zuckerberg and Chan plan to use the historic Irish estate as a private European sanctuary for family vacations and international business trips.

The acquisition adds to their prominent international property holdings, which already include massive compounds in California and Hawaii.
